When my family and I first landed on the home page of Wild ‘n’ Sweet Bengals, we fell instantly in love with all the gorgeous kitten faces that we encountered.

The blue Bengal cat gene comes from different cat breeds used at the very beginning of the Bengal cat’s creation. This gene is also known as dilute because it reduces the black color in the Bengal catâs coat. The result is a soft and rich blue-gray peachy colored coat.

This gene is also known as dilute because it reduces the black color in the Bengal catâs coat. The result is a soft and rich blue-gray peachy colored coat.

What we love to do at Wild N Sweet Bengals is to combine the different colors. We can produce silver blue kittens and we may even be able to produce charcoal blue and blue snow kittens soon! These different colors are extremely rare.

How to produce blue Bengal kittens?
Producing blue Bengal kittens is relatively easy when you have the right cats. The blue gene (dilute) is recessive, which means that both parents must provide a copy of the gene for the “blue” effect to appear in their Bengal kitten. A blue Bengal cat therefore possesses 2 copies of the blue gene, genetically identified as (d/d).
In other words, to be able to produce blue Bengal kittens, both parents must absolutely be blue or carry the blue gene in order to transmit it.
A Bengal cat that carries the blue gene is a cat that has received only 1 copy of the gene. In appearance, his color wonât be affected, which means he will not show any blue shades. This Bengal cat can then be brown, silver or even melanistic (all black) and be able to produce blue Bengal kittens.
Note that 2 blue Bengal cats together will only produce blue kittens.
